Tom Uprichard

I’m from a small country called Northern Ireland, where they swap snow for rain all year round! I grew up going on yearly family ski holidays, loving every moment, even if it was only for a week at a time. I was a swimmer when I was younger, but always had more love for skiing… So when I completed my university degree, I took the chance and went to Zermatt to become an instructor

In the summer

In the summer I go back to Northern Ireland and stay as active as possible. I mountain bike, golf, swim, gym and hike our tallest mountain which is a measly 850m. When I say I stay as active as possible, that also means I love watching sport, so you will often find me in my local pub watching whatever is on.

My Zermatt insider tip is:

Book first tracks on the Matterhorn website. You get to ski the pistes before anyone else, and see the Matterhorn in all its glory! Once you have finished skiing you also get breakfast at Matterhorn Glacier Paradise restaurant.

If I wasn't a Summit instructor:

When I was young I always had a love for cars, always dreaming of being a test driver for a large manufacturer. More recently I think I would just love to go and explore the world.

3 reasons to ski with me:

1. I tailor every lesson to your goals and skill level, helping you progress confidently while having fun on the slopes.

2. I know Zermatt inside out and love sharing its best runs, secret spots, and local gems.

3. Us Irish love a good chat, luckily there’s plenty of time between skiing for us to
