information on zermatt, skiing, & instructing

We have spent a long time in Zermatt now. We do not profess to be born and bred locals, but between us we have a huge amount of experience in and around the mountains in Zermatt and all over the world.

Here you will find articles about what we enjoy about living in the Alps, skiing and teaching.

Qualifications

How qualified is your ski instructor?

With so many qualifiying bodies and levels of ski qualification how do you know your teacher is actually qualified? Well the best thing to do is ask!

As a British run school most of our instructors are qualified through the BASI (British Association of Snowsports Instructors) system.

You can read here about what is involved in reaching each qualification in this system.

Want to join the team?

We are always interested in great people

Summit was set up to provide great ski and snowboard lessons to English speaking guests and to provide a great working environment for our ski and snowboard instructors.

Our core values remain the same. We want to be seen as both a great school to book lessons with and a great school to work for. We know that a happy instructor gives great lessons so these aims go hand in hand.

About Zermatt

Discover what we love about Zermatt and our tips and tricks to help you get the most out of your holiday. Many of the team live here year round and between Henry, Erica & Paul alone there is the combined knowledge of over 40 winter seasons!

THE SKI AREA

With skiing available 365 days a year on some of the highest pistes in Europe, it’s easy to see why Zermatt is on the list of best ski resorts in the world. Here is our overview of the ski area

The weather

Zermatt is generally a sunny place. However sitting on the mainline ridge mean means we are surrounded by some big mountains. There are 38, 4000m peaks directly around us, this means the weather in Zermatt can be wild and changeable.
