Paul Hammett

I came to Zermatt to ski. I came here to ski powder. It turned out to be a perfect place to do it. Now, I’ve lived half my life in Zermatt. I’m not young anymore so that’s a lot of years!

I never get bored of skiing, climbing, hiking, biking or running here. Every day in the mountains is an adventure and I’m still like a kid in a candy store whenever I get up high.

Most of my Zermatt years have been spent teaching skiing. I worked through all my qualifications and hold the BASI Level 4 ISTD and the Swiss Brevet. I love meeting new people and sharing my love of both skiing and the mountains.

In the summer

I just swap skiing for climbing, mountaineering, trail running and biking.

My Zermatt insider tip is:
If it’s your first trip to Zermatt, get the first lift up the mountain. Enjoy fresh tracks on empty groomers and stop for coffee (at Alphitta) when the rest of the resort turns up. If you’re a regular Zermatt skier, come back in summer!
If I wasn't a Summit instructor:
I’d be a landscape photographer
3 reasons to ski with me:

1. I’ve spent so much time teaching skiing that I can definitely help you become the skier that you want to be.

2. I’ve spent so much time in Zermatt that we won’t get lost along the way.

3. Whatever I lack in good looks and youth, I make up for in experience, knowledge and a weak sense of humour.
